in line filter ...alll the same?
Hello,
Shopping for some inline filters for my 87 300SDL Are the inline the same for most Mercedes? I see many inexpensive inline for W124, 300D..... Looks like the one I have now but want to make sure the ends are the right diameter(prevent leaking) Thanks A |

You could go to the Fastlane catalog and see what Phil is selling for the different models. That's where I've been getting my filters. BTW I've noticed that there's a difference between the two brands of prefilter he sells: one kind traps the dirt inside the screen and the other keeps it outside.

The better ones that I have used have a brass sleeve INSIDE the filter nipple. It helps to keep the hose clamp from squeezing the filter nipple.

So I searched Phil and apparently different 603's use different filters
87 300 D Turbo 87 300SDL It must have to do with how they routed the hoses in the engine compartment. I'm sure however that you could use them interchangeably assuming that you had enough slack in the line. --Matt
