80 300d wagon Too Slow for Cali's fools?

All fellow Benz lovers.........
We are already looking at our next beauty but are a bit worried that it might not have enough power to combat the Californian Autobahn.......
We have tried to look up H.P we have found it to be 83 on 300d?

How many different engines did they use for the wagons and what are the HP.....
Anyone driving a non-turbo in the Bay area not feel like they are a hazard??

Thanks all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The W123 body wagons, like the one you are looking at came with both turbo and naturally aspirated engines. I think the turbo is rated at 125 HP or so. You should be fine on the freeway, both engines can cruise at 80 all day.

83 to 85hp sounds about right. Hey, I drive a '77 240D automatic. If you need the extra oomph to start out with these cars, you hit the throttle to the floor and they will start out in first instead of second. You can also manualy select first. You know.... I don't give a rats a$$ about anyone trying to push me faster. I just drive at the capabilities of the car and keep me and my family safe. A 300 non-turbo wagon should do fine on the freeway at speeds.

It's a little of a challenge to get a 300D up to speed, but I'm always one of the faster drivers on the freeways. I'm always in the fast lane, no one ever flashed there lights at me to get out of there way, on the other hand I use the high-beams on a regular base
