where does a fella find one of these ? mine is cracked and glued but i need to adjust the modulator and im sure the cap will come off in two peices this time. i checked the parts breakdown somewhere on this forum and its not listed. we have no dealer within150 or so miles so purchasing one is kinda a problem. thanks in advance.

I hear that FASTLANE carries them here on this site. They're cheap.. order a spare or two.

I have one

Hi Davidh

I have one off of a modulator that I replaced. It's not from an `83, but I bet it's the same. The cap seems to be in decent shape and it's free. Send me a private message through this site with your address and I'll get it in the mail. I'll send the key too, just in case.

Paul

This happened not too long ago. For some reason, it is listed for the w126's but not the w123's. Try this:http://catalog.eautopartscatalog.com/mercedesshop/sophio/wizard.jsp?partner=mercedesshop&clientid=catalog.mercedesshop&baseurl=http://catalog.peachparts.com/&cookieid=1V61D44OW1V61D4BO7&year=1983&make=MB&model=300-SD-002&category=J&part=AT+Modulator+Cap

Also dealer item. $2 or so.
Fastlane has it too.

And.... they do need to be vacuum tight.

I actually made my own.

Model car tire and a dime as a cap, then some black RTV.
