transmission swap

Will a transmission from a 115 1975 300d fit in a 116 1980 300sd?

Thanks.

it might bolt up and work but the turboed engine will have had heavier parts in it i believe. also probably different shifting set ups and torque converter too. prbly better get a tranny for a turbo motor.

Yes, it will bolt up. Generally, it is the same transmission as t w suggests- both are 722.1xx - the attachments may be different. Check the PNs on the EPC- I think the TC may well be the same. It may NOT start out in first as your W116 does, however.
