Don't know that.

I've got the same thing.......two servos that work.......and two amps.......one resoldered........that won't do a damn thing.........

HA, I have resoldered two amps with no go. Wasted four hours. I have a box of used amps at my house.

I'm not wondering if the servo is the issue with my SDL not the amplifier.

The GDL site has a pretty good test procedure for the servo, including measuring the current draw. I tested mine in about 10 minutes. One of these days I need to get an amp for the 240D, my wife never uses the cruise, but it drives me nuts.

GDL does accept the parts for cores, so I should have most of a good servo from them already. But I need to isolate my coolant loss before that.

Yes - you can hook in an amp meter to the motor and read the amps req'd to move motor fwd and back.

There used to be procedure for this on GDL website. I think if it draws over certain amperage its bad.

If you take it apart, you will see what he means, there is no way to access the circuit board without destroying the unit.

I think new ACC's were in the 300-400 range on the net, around $800 dealer.

I dont know if theres a significant difference between the new ones sold on net, and new ones at dealer.

as for rest of your issues, sounds like you are doing it right...as you should be. The 86 SDL is an AWESOME vehicle, once the 80's electronics are in order it will run quite well.

Does the cruise work?

Yep I am enjoying my rebuilt push button unit. Cost a bundle(don't remember $300-$400) but it sure is nice when it works.

Where could I get the amp meter to do this?

As I recall it draws a pretty low current, I just used a cheap analog multi-meter that I've had forever. You should be able to find one cheap someplace.

The R4 is for the v-belt cars.

From my searching, some 300E/SE/SEL compressors will work on the SDL.

The 420SEL uses the same one, you just need to switch the clutch.

I got a rebuilt push button unit from the benz store. Cost about $150, has a 3 year warranty and has worked fine for the last few months. Looks much nicer than the old one too.

try this page or give the guy a call.

I'm pretty pleased with it. I didn't realize with the old unit that the fan speed was supposed to gradually increase to whatever if felt in needed when on auto. The new one does that - it's cool. Still have to fix the problem in the ignition switch though. It stays turned too far CW so the blower doesn't work. I have to turn it back CCW a smidge to get the fan. Not really that big a deal, I'll fix it when it's cooler.
