300d turbo engine problem :-/

hello all im 17 and i just got my dads 83 300d turbo .....it ran fine for a couple of weeks then all of the sudden it began driving very slugishly out of nowhere on the way home ...i drove it a day later and i dont think it acelerated over 23-30 miles per hour.....when i turn it on and let it warm up and try to rev it it sounds really sad and tha tac dosent move much.....................................if any one can help me trouble shoot tha problem id appreciate it thanx.

Change the fuel filters first. Sounds like you got some gunk in the tank that worked it's way down.

ne otha ideas...? lik u dnt think its nething with tha turbo spooling do u ?

th trbo is rarly a prblem on thse engns.

Fuel filters are the most common power problem on these engines. The problem you describe sounds exactly like clogged fuel filters. You might have got some bad/contaminated fuel.

It's happened to me before. Sudden loss of power without any smoke, stalling, sluggish response, and sometimes hard starting.

The turbo's are very simple devices and rarely fail without showing signs (Lots of blue smoke or screaming sounds) well before they fail completely.
