Wow. What a beauty. If the seller's had realistic expectations, that car would sell for a pile. Not a $30k pile, however.

mespe 08-06-2006 09:43 AM

I dunno, 30K seems a little steep, but the car is showroom and sold for alot more when new. it'll be interesting to see if he sells it for 30K.

It is an absolute beauty! My 86 300sdl has 87,000 miles on it now and underneath the hood, our cars look identical. Just as clean. My interior is also just as clean and perfect BUT I have two small cracks in the dash. The exterior of my car can only dream of looking like this car. My car's first owner was also a wealthy person who bought it brand new, but it suffered 19 years of parking lot dings and dents.
30K is too steep!!! I paid $3500 for my car and I bet with $7000 worth of paint and body work it would like this car.( Except mine is light blue with navy interior) So I would say $15K is tops for this car.

If he/she gets that much for it, then its worth it. That is what establishes true value is how much someone will pay. If some one is looking for a museum quality sdl then who knows?

It's beautiful, and the license plate/frame indicates it was always been in Walnut Creek, an upscale California suburb, and the color is nice, but $30k is certainly a reach.

That's low mileage for a diesel that old though. Almost like getting a new one. What rubber seals may have dried out though? How often was the oil changed?

It's not a collector car though-kind of like the answer to a question nobody asked. What will the market bear?

their was a 560SEL in my paper for sale.. 20k with 34,000 miles on it.. i went and looked at it, it was worth maybe to.. minor things that bugged me since i have an eye for looking at a mercedes deeper than a 1st timer...

greasybenz 08-06-2006 04:31 PM

So tempting to go take a look at it, but they might be stuck up folks and would shoo me away. It would be cool to see how that thing runs with that many miles.

Hatterasguy 08-06-2006 08:14 PM

Thats my kind of W126. It guess a fair value would be $18k-$22k, maybe a bit more. $30k is AMG W126 price territory.

If I were SDL shopping again I would be talking to those people and if they came to a reasonable price...I'd pay $20k for that car and be happy about it.

Heck I'm going to put a fortune into my SDL's body to get it looking darn close to that nice. And mine still has 250k miles on it.

Hatterasguy 08-06-2006 08:19 PM

Wow I just can't find a flaw! I wonder if they would take my SDL in on trade for $10k?:D hmmm...wonder if I could get a note on something like that...

superbeast1098 08-07-2006 12:02 AM

That is a beautiful car..... Its in near perfect condition...... But 29 grand is waaaaaayyyyy over the top. Someone must have been smokin/doing some serious drugs to ask that much for that car......

erfaniman 08-07-2006 12:19 AM

If I was established, I would get it for 30k. Its BRAND NEW. Wow I am impressed. wow. wow. wow.

2.5Turbo 08-07-2006 01:27 AM

You still have to worry about that 603 head...at that age and mileage it has to be original.

JamesDean 08-07-2006 01:39 AM

did anyone notice the trunk mats dont match the interior?  Or is it just me? I know my trunk carpet in my SD matches my interior. The same on my 190E.

Great looking automobile thought. I would worry about the head too.
