84 300td Cruise Control Problem

Car is in great shape with 113M miles.
For some time, the only time I can get the CC to work is when it's very hot outside.
I have adjusted the stop lever distance tighter and looser, and it doesn't seem to help.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

i pulled my amp and did the resolder routine on mine awhile back. It worked couple days then died. I pulled it again, this time I cleaned ckt board with acetone then resolderd again. Still working so far.
