Can anyone tell me if how wise it is to remove the alda and leave it off when it is broken. I have read a few posts that very lightly shed light on the possibility that no alda is better than a broken one, my only concern is that the car runs away on me from the fuel not being regulated. In addition to that how the hell does this thing come off and what do I do with the vacuum linr that runs to it afterwards?

from what forcedinduction told me when we talked about it, removing it takes a 20mm or larger wrench or he said something about 12" channel locks, the line that runs from the intake manifold, then to the overboost solenoid, then to the alda will be fine if its unhooked, then when its off, unscrew the sections, locktite was used on the screws... gut it out, and put it back on as a dust cap ...

You can remove the ALDA and get significantly more performance as compared to a broken ALDA. If the unit does not respond to manifold pressure and advance the rack, then it's not giving you the performance desired.

The downside of it's removal is excessive fuel at low rpm's resulting in poor fuel economy and black smoke.

I removed the ALDA from the '87 yesterday to make an adjustment in the set screw. Dialed it out two turns and reinstalled the unit. Vehicle performs much better off idle. Probably could have advanced it further.......still no visible smoke.

It takes 24mm and 21mm wrenches or a 12" crescent wrench and a strong hand grip.

Once you learn how the engine responds after the ALDA removal, black smoke is not an issue.

I doubt that. I bet you'll fall in love with how well the engine responds.

im already getting 23 mpg.. lets see how much it drops ....if i like it ill mos def put in a 3" exhaust dumped out the passenger side, at an angle, flush with the rockers

Yeah, my new IP was set a little rich when I picked it up last week, good power but too much smoke. I got bored with the smoke in about 2 hours and readjusted it a bit. Got rid of the smoke and kept the power.

I've been running my 300D for a week with no alda. No black smoke and 30.8 mpg. I also installed a boost guage this weekend.

No alda and no complaints from me - thanks again to Forced Induction for letting me know that torque and power off the line is not a sin!

I have been waiting for this day all my life is what comes to mind first. But really this thing has only been broken for a few months, long gone are the days of getting run over now it's time to strap on my helmut , buckle in my 5 point and hit the throttle like good ol Mr. Armstrong. Needless to say I'm a happy man (as long as I don't break nothing in the process) once again. Thanks for giving me back my power. And btw I run veggie oil, so waste isn't an issue.

I removed the alda a few days ago and while the car does have a little more pickup it's nothing i'd care to brag about.In addition there is no more black smoke than before the procedure.Does this sound right?

You won't get any black smoke from a gas moped.
