Go for Genuine M.Benz parts or Meyle or KS?

Fellow members. I am presently confronted with an overhaul. I have to decide wether I buy genuine MB parts or buy other brands that are cheaper. Will I be doing a mistake not buying M Benz parts? The difference in price is great. I wonder what is the difference in quality.
THANKS BEFORE HAND FOR YOUR OPINIONS.

It depends on the part.

What parts are you replacing?

There is no generic answer to the question.

I've got experience with the gasket sets. You can certainly purchase them from sources outside the dealer. The gasket set for the 617 was made by Victor Reinz and it appeared to be a good quality product.

Some of the other members will chime in about the pistons, rings, bearings, etc.

My thoughts are that most of the sources are going to have OEM hardware simply because there are not too many manufacturers of pistons, rings, and bearings for M/B engines.

Timing chains are a bit of a crapshoot..........don't know how many "outsiders" are in that business.........because timing chains are sold in much greater quantities.

Parts

Feel free to use any of the parts from on line vendors. They are all OEM or better. I have been selling them for 29 years and have had no major issues at all.
