123 Repair Manuals

I'm looking for the best/most comprehensive/accurat repair manual(s) for my car. I'm not sure if the best are in book or CD form. Any help or insight is most appriciated.

Thanks,

I own both the Mercedes Benz Cd's and book manuals. They will provide you the best information out there. The pros and cons of both!!

CD's. Good points.
Easy to use
Covers quite a few years of a particular model.
Easy to print out a section of the manual and get it greasy instead of the paper manual.
On the computer all the time, just download it and the whole manual is there.
The CD contains the following manuals.
Engine manual
Electrical trouble shooting manual
Maintenance manual
Owners manual
Climate control manual
Chasis and body manual

CD's bad points.
The pictures don't always show up well. About 45% of then are poor quality.
Usually look better if printed.
Not every manual is on the CD.
No-- Parts manual, Transmission manual, Etc.

Paper Manuals.
Bulky and you don't want to get grease all over them.
Very expensive
About $600+ for the same manuals in paper that you get on the Cd.

I tend to go between the 2 depending on the detail of my research ( paper shows all the picture well, Cd can be printed and I can take it on a trip with me )
For complete coverage I woudl recommend the CD. It's cheaper and covers alot. Then start getting paper manuals if you want.

A good place to start for paper manuals.

Which CD do you own?

I've been trying to access http://mb.braingears.com/ but it seems to be down.

Braingears is down. There has been a discussion on this forum regarding the legality of putting the Factory Service Manual on the web. I just purchased the CD and am glad I did. Braingears was missing sections of the FSM.

I got the FSM CD from MBUSA. Cost was $20 plus shipping. I've seen the FSM cd sell for $45 to $99 elsewhere. Hard to believe MB was actually cheaper, and their service was really fast. I also own a Haynes Manual.

Manuals

I have a Haynes manual that rides around in the trunk, and use it for torque specs and such, and the cdrom at home for the study things. When I go to do something I print the pages I need, and toss them when done. Chuck
