Diesel Leak - 1998 300D

I have a leak on my 98 Diesel, but I cant really see the lines since they are under the intake manifold. On my older 91 the cloth/rubber hoses were very visable.

I would like to takle it myself if I can but how do I get access to the area that is likely leaking.

Please help!

Check your IP for leaks, too. I had a call from my father this morning (central NC) and he says his car is leaking like crazy over the past week. He says the local Benz shop is swamped with leaking diesel cars.

Thanks so much for directing me to these sources. I did a few searches but was overwhelmed by the info I had. I think I will try and tackle it.

If you unbolt your windsheild washer bottle and disconnect the electrical connection you can flip it up and out of your way which will allow you to see more beneath the manifold.

You need to determine if the leaks are from the fuel lines, shut off solenoid, IP seals or other.

I was able to replace all the fuel lines without removing the manifold. The lil white horseshoe clips on the fuel lines spread the shoulders of the fuel lines for removal when pushed tightly closed.

The dealer did my shutoff solenoid and IP seals. The seals def require removal of the manifold. The shutoff solenoid "could" be done w/o removing it if you have lots of patience.
