dented fuel filter problem??

Just got in my first batch of parts for my "new" 300D Turbo.
The prefilter is dented, nothing too severe, but there are two dents each about an inch across and flattening out the filter for that inch (so maybe 1/4 inch deep).

Is this an issue and should I contact the seller for return/exchange or can I go ahead and use it? neither ding will interfere with mounting it.

Cheers and thanks,

If you are talking about the main fuel filter, I got one once that was dented somewhat as you described. It was OK for a while and then cracked along one of the dents. I had to make emergency repairs. Luckily I carry a spare.

If you can, I would have the supplier replace the dented unit(s).

just my $.02,
Wes

Your prefilter is not plastic?!?!?!?!

I thought the metal filter was the pre-filter when I posted this, after looking at the system closer I realise that the filters are the other way round.

Anyway it is the metal filter that is dented ;)
Doesn't look too bad. . .

Id still take it back to the store and complain. They will take it back with fuel and all. I had a problem getting a fuel filter on my accord because the quality product had been painted in the threads... I nearly rounded off the fuel line nuts. You should have heard me ***** at Autozone!!!!

I ordered it on-line from the shop here.
Combined with the rough Idle issue (I'm posting the rest of this there: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/161224-knocking-idle-when-gear-return-line-question.html) I'm thinking of going ahead and using it.
