This is most likley gonna be a stupid question.

:stupid:

Ok, so i have a burned out fog light on a 83 Euro 240D. upon inspecting the actual light bulb it has a wire attached to it. question is, is there a way to to get the bul out?? do i need to specially order the bulb??? Autozone thinks i need to replace the whole light and bulb like the old style chevys...

any help input would be great

thanks

I'm not sure, but I think the euro fog lights just use H3 bulbs like the US spec lights:

is this the round style fogs?

you just remove the headlight doors, unscrew the chrome bezel and the light pops out.. catch it dont drop it.. and their is a lil metal clip that unsnaps and out comes the light

It's a sealed headlight. There is no way to replace just the bulb.

If we are talking about the US type round, yellow lights they are not sealed. A standard H3 bulb just pops in the back. The H3 bulbs should be available at any decent auto parts store.

I think you just need H3 bulbs. Take one to the auto parts store and try to match it.

BTW, it sounds like your car has US spec lights installed with clear fog lights. The euro lights are one piece units that include both the headlights and fog lights. The lights were probably replaced when it was originally imported. The actual euro lights look like this:

Yea i think so, i think the onese that were imported from german had to be "upgraded" to us spec before they could be road worthy in the us, ive seen pletny of euros in the us and all hvae the clear fog lights instead of the amber ones and dont look like the real euro ones

thanks you so much for your help!!!

Looks like an off-the-shelf H3 bulb.
