Question on 124 bumper style
I was reading the Euro plate thread and got to thinking about this. Does anyone else have, or know of, a W124 without the indent for the license plate in the front bumper? Someone pointed this out at a GTG (I think), a while ago, but mine does not have one. The front bumper is smooth (beautiful, I love it that way). I never thought about it, but now that I look, I have not seen one single W124, pre- or post-1988-style, without the front plate accomodation. Mine is a Delaware car from a Delaware dealer, so I guess they offered the smooth front as a feature since our state does not require front plates.
Anyone else know if this is as rare as it seems to be?

The 300TD you linked to does have an indent.

You can buy a filler piece from MB. I've had the filler on my '92 since I got it.
I bought another filler piece when I replaced the bumpers strips front and rear for appearance (Sun had faded them.). Filler is around $70 or so. I have Euro lights and Tennessee has no front plate requirement. The indentation was just plain ugly. Steve |

Here, you can sort of see it in the photos of my gallery: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=489
It's like a solid insert that fits the profile of the bumper. Steve, that must be what I have. My dad must have asked for it when he ordered the car in 87. I'm glad to know they can still be purchased ... I am always worried I might get in a fender-bender and not be able to replace the bumper to its original appearance. Most cars around here have a decorative MB front plate, which looks kind of regal, but I really prefer the smooth look. It's also debadged, so the whole thing just looks crisp front to back.
