The premature failures of the IP was only on the early models up to i think 1984. The reason was the govenor was made of some black plastic until then. The plastic didnt hold up to the fuel changes and started breaking down. What you got was a black death inside the pump as pieces sheared off the governor housing and finally the governor it self comes apart. I learned all about this the very hard way If you check out the GL you can still find government issue 6.2's in thier shipping crates for a good price.
