Reminds me of a '65 Cutlass I once had. The instructions for R&R of the heater blower begin "Remove the right front wheel." Turns out the inner fender blocks removal of one of the bolts holding the blower (most of it is in the engine bay) onto the firewall. You have to cut a one inch hole in the inner fender and stick a socket wrench through the hole to access the bolt!

Or work from below. Unsmart either way. Air cleaner and MAF have to come off to replace the right headlight bulb if you have Euro headlights.

When I first got my 420SEL I was going through all the switches and knobs on the dash. Noticed the rear defroster switch and looked in the rear view. I couldn't see the usual lines in the glass and thought maybe the PO had the rear window replaced without the element. 2-3 weeks later as I'm replacing the brake light bulb on the rear deck, I notice the lines. AWSOME. Just the little things like that are cool to me. Heated washer fluid. Never heard of it before.

Cold weather driving and emergency repair!

For the cold weather the thermostatically controlled heated wiper rest under the passenger side of the windshield! And in addition to the thermostatically controlled heated washer fluid reservoir and the thermostatically controlled washer nozzles, there are electrically heated hoses between those two which are switched on by the same controller as the nozzles.

For an SDL how about the 603/2/1 engine’s designed ability to allow R&R of the serpentine drive belt which powers the engine driven accessories on the road side using only the factory tool kit’s 13 mm wrench on the tensioner’s cam block bolt and the lug wrench’s handle which fits into the cam block’s hole to lever the cam block over, releasing its’ tension.

Is this thread the place wherever I mention that there are substantial rumors of the w212 using a Chrysler suspension?

Though I am not one who ever has, but I know some of us admire the Germans for designing the W126 to not ever being able to lock your keys in the car...How about that for thinking ahead huh??
My W123 and W124 had the same design.

All modern (late 70's and newer) VW's have this as I imagine all MBs from the time of the power lock as well. Even Honda's sorta have this, you just need to pull the interior handle as you're locking it to circumvent this safety feature.

I'm sure many other manufacturers do this, at least on the driver door.

I love how the heat and cool the doors. Nothing like grabing a nice cool door handle on a 100 degree August day.

Mercedes extensive use of aluminum in the interior bits is also quite nice.

Most (not our beloved MB) door latches also double as a bottle opener...

Hood and star

What I like best is simply driving along looking over that classic curve of the hood and the star.

Plus it's the only vehicle I've owned that feels more stable the faster you go....
