Window regulator clip 1983 300SD

The little white clip that connects the regulator to the window glass on my 1983 300sd failed yesterday. I was on the road and put all 4 windows down. I went to put the windows up and all of them went up except the drivers side rear. It was still making noise so I figure some clip broke and sure engouh thats what it was. The white clip under the window glass that holds the window regulator and kind of seperate and the regulator arm popped off of it so it wasnt connected to the window glass. I simply pushed the clip back together on the regulator arm and the window is now working. Will i need to buy a new clip?

Hard to say without seeing it but usually once it comes apart it doesn't hold together very well or for very long.

Look for the reason the slider came off. Feel the inner edge of the rail silder fits into. If ruff, file smooth, clean and lub. When attached and run down, does the stop on the regulator body stop the regulator arm or does the arm stop when window bottoms out? Adjust the stop to let the window down just past the window sill trim.
Also while in the door, verify drainage flaps and condition of the veritcal side guides.
Sliders cost $7-$12 online. This is one part that should be bought new.
I believe on your car you have to remove the regulator, grind off the peaned slider rivet, install new rivet/slider base and pean the soft rivet head.
With winter comming, if you do not repair the regulator, cut a 1" x 1" x 18.5" long piece of wood (verify length needed) and knotch one end to fit the window slider rail. If the window fails, you can new hold the window up till fixed.
Rear doors are far easier than the front!

Agree with Sixto...probably won't last. I used a hunk of big truck retread as a slider. See pics below. Otherwise, you have to pull your regulator and drill out the old pin and reattach a new white plastic slider.
