Can you look at these pics please?
From the research I have done on this forum, it appears that I do not have an air recirc valve on my 83 300cd. I am familiar with the EGR and what it does and I have a plate blocking it off (for testing purposes only). Just wanted to make sure I do not have an ARV that I need to deal with.
Thanks! http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l231/JEREMYC_03/MercedesPictures003.jpg http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l231/JEREMYC_03/MercedesPictures002.jpg http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l231/JEREMYC_03/MercedesPictures001.jpg

What's the point of getting rid of the EGR valve? Is it worth the work for the minimal hp gain? I could see doing this if it were broken, I'ld lose mine fast. Why take it off if it's not broken?

When I blocked mine off, there was an extreme amount of sludge in the intake that was the result of the EGR. I cleaned it all out but it was almost like tar. That has got to be bad for the engine.
