ebay parts cars selling tips

I'm looking at selling off my 1975 300d parts car on ebay, but I've never sold anything on there before. The engine has a cracked head, there is rust in the rear panels, AC is sitting in the trunk, but everything else works, including the sunroof.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dunl

Dunl, take what you need and junk it.

That is my take on it friend. Keep what you need, even what you think you might need, and scrap the rest. There are not many looking for a rusty worn out 75 300 D, and your location, though only a short drive to Jasper and Banff, but being north of the border does not make it a viable deal to the typical North American Benz Diesel parts buyer. I have a decent head I would sell you cheap, but getting it too you is a real problem. I would like a low cost shortblock,(if I keep the head) but even if yours had a turbo, again that cross border shipping is so difficult. so I say again, take what you can use and get rid of it.

I agree. Best bet is to part it out yourself. There is very little demand for NA cars.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the advice, and I may do that, but I'm really looking for tips on selling a parts car - plain and simple.

Not unappreciative of your advice, as I understand, but I want to give it a try first.

Thanks.

I wouldn't say 'very little'... not as much as W123 for sure but there is still plenty of demand for good W115 parts. The easy stuff may bring the most $$: headlights/tail lights, carpets, etc. Of course being in Canada doesn't help with US buyers. I'd suggest doing a quick search on ebay for completed auctions to see what brings in the cash.

I've sold the following on ebay from a w123:
Taillights, signal lights, instrument cluster, fuel door, vents with chrome rings.

Part out working A/C components, alternator, steering pump, window motors, cruise control items, vacuum splitters and components, little trim pieces.

basically, list anything small enough to ship reasonably.

Good luck

you can probably get a few hundred out of it. maybe another hundred when you finally sell it to the scrap yard.

I've been thinking of parting it out, but I thought I might try selling it as a unit for a few hundred, just to be rid of it. There's not really anything I need on it for my 1980 300sd unfortunately.

I think a lot of Ebayers here in the States dont want the hassle of buying something from Canada,When I parted out my w126 I tried to be honest on the description, honest on starting at a reasonable price, and I didnt jack up the shipping costs, however the buyer wanted it shipped If they were paying for ,thats how I shipped it.It worked well for me,best of luck on your auctions ,Johnny
