1985 300sd

Okay heres my question,I bought this car as a 1985 300sd,and Im not sure what these Headlights are.I know they are different than my 1984,I think they are Europeon, but does that mean I have a European car or have the lights been changed.I know it sounds silly but I really dont know,Thanks and go easy on me,Johnny

Those are the Euro lights. They look much better and provide considerably more light than the DOT lights.

The vehicle is most likely a US vehicle where someone decided to add the Euro lights to it.

I just did the same thing last weekend to the '87.

They are going to take an H4 halogen lamp. You can change them in five minutes but the lamps are a bit pricey. Don't handle the glass with your fingers at any time during the installation.

These lamps are excellent, however, none of them last very long compared to the DOT sealed beam units that you are familiar with.

I thought the S-Class diesel was a North America only vehicle? None of them stayed at home--they all came here-- until the 140, right?

Thumbs up

I can tell by just looking at the large bumper it's a US car.

Brian's right. H4's are not cheap...especially the Siverstar's..they are 19$/each. It doesn't matter if its the H4 or the H3(fog) same price. In fact a friend of mine bought 2 sealed beam lights for his Jeep (Silverstar's) and I bought 2 H3's for my w201's Fog lights..same price! 43$

Kris son, you must learn to ebay those Silverstars. I think I paid about $45 shipped on four of the H4s.
