Greasy Turbo
Since I am waiting for parts to continue my turbo engine installation project I thought I would poke around the engine while it is on the garage floor and easy to access. I checked the turbo, and it has no end play, and spins fairly freely, but the compressor wheel is a bit black and greasy. What's up with that?

That's from the air filter housing. The PCV vent inside lets a bit of oil vapor into the intake.
You can remove the compressor housing and clean it up with some parts cleaner, but it won't hurt it to leave it as-is. |

Okie Dokie. Thanks. Seems like I read about somebody spraying the compressor wheel with carb cleaner with the engine idling, but that seems like a bad idea to me.
