What do you all think about this?????

I bought a 1983 300CD a few weeks ago and it is a wonderful car. Nearly everything works on it, even the ice cold air. It is my 3rd W123 chassis and I am thinking about upgrading(if thats what you wanna call it) to a W126 chassis. A guy I know has one for sale and I posted the car for sale a week or so ago. It is an 82 300SD with about 200k on it and everything works on it as well. The seats are a little cracked but the owner says the car is in exceptional mechanical shape. I have seen pictures of the car and it is pretty nice. Question is, should I sell my 300CD and buy this 300SD? Mainly, I am just looking for 4 doors and more room with a bigger car. I really like my 300CD but I cant afford to own both cars right now. What do you all think?

Keep the CD. They are not as common.

The fact that they are not as common means you can probably get more $$ for it, though. If it's not what you need I would sell it and get the w126.

That is what I was thinking. I really believe the CD will bring about $2500-$3000. I can pick the SD up for about $3000.00.

If you need a bigger car then the question is whether the SD is it or should you keep looking.

What records are available for that SD? Have you driven it?

The records are there but I have not driven it. The owner of the shop said it is in exceptional mechanical shape. However, another member on this board with 5 posts said he drove the car and it was a piece. He wont respond with any further info. I have done business with the guy that owns it and he has always shot me straight. The CD was 10 times better than what I expected and what he described when I picked it up.

Ever been to the northwest? It's beautiful out here! If you're really going to sell the CD and it's in nice shape, you could probably get quite a bit more than $3K in WA or OR. W123's and diesels in general are very popular around here. I don't think that's true in MO. I went to St. Louis for a week about 6 months ago and noticed exactly one w123 the entire time I was there.

So what I'm saying is you might want to schedule a vacation at some point in the near future...it could turn out to be an all-expenses paid trip for you.
