Anybody have a 300D and a tape measure?

I know, it's a strange request, but I need the length of the valve cover from front to back. I've got a couple 616 engines here but no 617. I'm palnning on stuffing one of these in a Land Rover and am just trying to get some initial measurements.

Thanks for your help!

Jim

Is that for a 616 or a 617?
Sounds awful short for a 617.

Thanks for checking!!

I measured for my swap, and from the back of the engine lift strap behind the valve cover to the front of the power steering pump (and thus the crank pulley) was 31". That doesn't include any kind of fan.

Great. That gives me lots of room.

I'm in the beginning phase of putting a 617 turbo in this truck. It's a pretty rare '67 Land Rover 109 6cyl truck and has a pretty deep firewall compared to the 4cyl version. The engine in the truck now is 32" long so I shouldn't have any trouble.

By the way, it's getting a Toyota H55F 5-speed tranny and Land Cruiser transfer case behind it. A long way to go however...This picture was taken only yesterday.

if you couldnt measure one i think you could take the 616 and add the distance between bores.
