81 300d need help? trying to buy...??
Just wanted to get opinions from this forum before I buy..or not.
for sale $1500 might take $1000 81 300d paint is fair 135k miles interior is ok no leaks or puddles under matts tires in good shape the fix list and other questionables: front pass window works but does't close completely drivers side motor runs but window only moves by hand fuel reserve light stays on even at 1/2 tank and needle "twitches" drivers door inside handle (to open) needs to be replaced A/C doesn't blow cold and center vents are out of comission. ***the car drives great on the road BUT it revs high when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear (auto trans) seems like mabe slipping the car performs fine I am just concerned weather this tranny is about to sh#$^ the bed. Thanks for any input just want an opinion or 2....

Are you certain the miles are correct?

81 300d
All I am sure of is that it runs fine (the engine) and doesn't smoke on start up or accelerating.
odometer seems to be working fine right now... I tried a carfax but it won't go back that far. 82 is the cut off??? any suggestions on how to confirm this>

Did you buy it?
I'm also looking at an 83 300D. Did you figure why the 2 center vents are not working? This one does the same thing.

Even a grand may be a bit much .... depends on what you want to do with it (hobby, driver, restoration, etc.) and how nice you want it to turn out ... I've bought a couple pretty good ones for between 100 and 500 bucks that run, one even with real low orginal mileage like the one you're talkin' about .... without the parts cars I that have though, I don't think any of 'em would have been a very practical deal, frankly. New parts can be lots of money .... my advice: Make a much lower offer ....

I would be concerned about the transmission acting up at 135K miles, that doesn't sound right. That sounds more like 250K miles, unless it's been abused/neglected. It depends what you are looking for. If you plan on making it correct, the purchase price will be insignificant compared to your total cost anyway. If you're looking for a cheap driver, buy a honda.

I, if cars were like for like, would go for the '83. The trans flare doesn't sound good.
