Water in the Left front floor pan

Hello all,

I've been finding water under my drivers carpet in my 1983 300D. I have not fully investigated it but would like any opinions on what my be causing it?

Thanks in advanced.

i find that when it is raining i occassionaly feel a few drops of water intermittently hit my foot while driving. it seems to be more ptonounced when i'm headed up hill. i'm getting ready to take a look at my firwall area under the grills for the windshield wipern area. i'll post anything if i find anything this weekend.

go to the thread on windshield leaks....or break out the water hose and wet down your windshield and watch where the water comes in....

If you have been running your AC, the condensate drain tube deteriorates and the runoff spills into the cabin. Behind dash over tranny hump. Many threads with good pictures if you search.
What is this stuff yall call "rain" anyway?????????????

Agree with JimmyL and the windshield seal. If it is the condensation line [A/C] you can cut the top of a coke bottle off [plastic of course] making a funnel. The thread end of the bottle fits perfectly into the tranny tunnel. I did this on one of my cars 2 years ago.

My TD had a similar leak that drove me nuts. I replaced the windshield seal, checked the condensation line, etc. etc. After a year of tracing the leak I discovered the boot that goes around the steering shaft had cracks in it. I simply gooped it up with silicone being careful not to get any on the metal and that fixed my leak.

Hope this helps. Leaks are so frustrating....

Cheers,

Bill

Thanks guys, I'll go thru all your suggestions.... Windshield seal, a/c drain tube, and steering shaft boot.... any thing else?

Thanks again

Richard
