rear end clunking....

I just started to notice a noise in the rear. It ONLY happens between 20 and 25 mph. Always under acceleration. It seems to be coming from the rear of the car and you can feel it as well as hear it. I took a quick peek at the rear flex disc and it looked OK. I had it out for a highway trip (400 miles) and averaged about 65-70 mph with no noises. Only happens between 20-25 mph.

Is it my rear going or flex discs?

Or $15 for the pair at the dealer.

This was one of those parts that it just didn't make sense to order and wait for. There really are a few parts that this is true for

definately not that. I replaced those about 2 years ago. This is a noise that happens only on acceleration, not as I go over bumps.

noise

is the noise sort of a vibration? I get a rumbling vibration that you can feel when I really stand on it at about 25mph, and I have no clue what it is... sorry to leech off your thread.

I second kdvrwgn's idea, as this was my initial thought upon reading your post, too. Before I replaced the half-shafts on my '85, I was getting a popping/clunking noise, which *at first* was apparent only when speeding up or slowing down. Later, it became more pronounced, especially when exiting the freeway, etc.

Good luck, -Chris

check the two bushings on the back of the rear end. I had a clunk at the shift from first to second gear. The rear bushings ended up being shot. Replaced and no clunk.
