240D Vacuum Pump pieces
My vacuum quit working. Ordered pump rebuild kit from Diesel Giant, hopefully it will be here today. Anyway, I took the pump off and these pieces fell out, anyone know what happened. Thanks and hopefully the pic works.

By the way, they fell out from where the main line attaches to the pump.

Those peices are the vac' pump check valve parts.
Would suggest you also remove lower oil pan and clean out the other pieces and debrie that may have fallen though before the get sucked up by the oil pump. Although the pick up for the oil pump has a mesh screen...I have seen the screen with gaps large enough to allow small items to be sucked up. There will be a rubber foot buffer held on with a C clip on the end of the oil pump pick-up ...I personally remove this rubber buffer and place in the oil pan a large voice magnet under the oil pump pick up. .

So there are other pieces that are missing? I'm trying to figure out how they could get in the engine, because there was still part of the check valve on the pump which wouldnt alow anything to go through.
Does anyone know if the Diesel Giant rebuild kit includes a new check valve? |

Did you find any loose parts inside the pump, or were they just at the exterior vacuum line connection? If the parts were inside the pump, I would definitely check the oil pan.

No loose parts inside the pump, just in the little chamber where the main vac line attaches. I think I'm ok.

I think you're OK too. Anyone else?

I rebuilt mine last year after the diaphragm developed a hole about 1/4 inch wide. I replaced the diaphragm with one from Fastlane, and verified that the check valves still worked. By close inspection, figure out which way each one is supposed to face, to draw vacuum on the main line (to brake booster).
