This is a great Forum...
Hot slow summer day, got bored and was looking for something EASY to do on the MB. Went to DIY section read up on Bowden cable adjustments. Seemed easy enough and I hadn't fooled with it much, so what the heck, try it!
WOW. What a difference a 1/2 turn can make! I drove around for a hour tweaking in and then out, drive and feel, twist and drive. The DYI was right, it only took slightly less than a 1/2 turn. Shifts are hardly noticable when just easing around and nice and crisp under hard acceleration. These cars just amaze me at how they respond to slight tweaks...and by how many places you can slightly tweak. I would have not known about any of this stuff if not for this forum. This is a neat place in cyberspace!

and youve got to love how when something screws up and you look at it for hours confused and mad because you cant figure out how to fix it... you search online and find out its a stupidly easy fix

Cables stretch, plastic changes shape, metal wears, springs weaken, and clearances change.
Sometimes, a 1/2 turn is all it takes to make a world of difference. |
