changed oil.....car won't start

aaaaggggggggggg. oil changed. filter too. both fuel filters. filled the main filter with fuel. started car and it went fine for about 15 sec then died. i reprimed the engine and turned the key. crank crank crank but no fire. i found a black vac line that goes into the firewall apparently adrift of its end point. maybe that is the prob. anyone know where it plugs into?

Running for 15 seconds and dying means it burned off the fuel in the IP and ran out. How are you repriming? Using the hand pump? Make sure it is not leaking and if it is the old style that it's screwed back down tight after you pump it.

I would bet that your problem is one of fuel starvation due to the fact that you haven't filled the new filter...maybe your primer pump isn't working or you haven't pumped it enough.

If you didn't have trouble before the service don't look to other things (mysterious vacuum hoses)...the problem was caused by what you did most likely...go back to that and you will find the trouble. There's nothing that you could do during an oil change to cause a no-start. Even if you had knocked the vacuum line off the shutoff the car would start, it would just not shut down.

The problem is related to the fuel filters...are you sure all the fittings are reconnected and the gasket at the filter is tight?

The black vacuum line is supposed to be an open vent under the dash, that's not your problem.

Sounds like an air leak someplace in the fuel system, recheck all the connections that you touched.

You pump the primer pump until the sound changes. It is very noticeable. As was already mentioned, if your hand gets wet while you are pumping the primer pump, get a new one.

there are just days

you have all had them when no matter what you do the first day the results are unsatisfying. you revist the prob the next day and amazingly your are a bigger genius than the day before.

reprimed and the car started an ran fine. the primary is not full of fuel as i have been used to seeing but is half full and running. i will take it.

next time do what i do. Get a buddy and have them just pump the primer pump like hell. While he is doing that get in the car and step on the "go" pedal and have it to the floor. When you start the car up you should have no problems as your buddy is constantly putting fuel in the primary filter and you revving it by putting the pedal to the floor willl make the ip suck more fuel.

That way you wont get fuel starvation....trust me this works ive changed enough fuel filters to know this is the best method
