Engine Swap advice
New member to this forum, but a long-time MB Diesel owner...
I am in the process of swapping a motor from a 1980 300SD to a 1983 300TD (300 TD has a bad motor but a perfect body and interior) Anyway, I plan on replacing the water pump, and replacing the oil-pan seals before I drop the motor into the '83. Is there anything else that I should consider doing while I have the motor on the stand (and outside the car) Thanks!

Does the TD have the original rear suspension, requiring the hydraulic pump on the engine? If so, the SD engine will not have the required pump.
TD owners?

They are correct. You will have to transfer the head from the old engine to the new one to retain this feature.

Freeze plugs okay on the donor ?
Motor Mounts and/or motor shocks(dampners) ? Oil filter housing gasket ? Shift linkage bushings ? Anything on the firewall ? (hose etc..) Power steering pump filter ? Oil cooler lines okay and not leaking ?

Valve job (while your at it).

Thanks for all the advice. I had also planned on cleaning the firewall area and replacing all hoses, etc on the car.
