I know I should open a new thread, but what the heck... I did the purge in my 300D NA euro as Diesel Giant suggests and I was happy with the results (less smoke, smoother idle) until I had to refill my tank and I discovered my fuel mileage dropped 3 MPG. Which can be the cause of this? Weared out injector nozzles? IP not properly adjusted?
Thanks |

After just 1 tank? Are you sure about your previous consumption? MPG should really be averaged over several tanks to get close to the real #. I cant think of why it would happen. Anyone else?

What I do is that everytime I put fuel in my tank, I write down the miles and the amount of fuel to a full tank. I input this data in my handheld unit, so it calculates the fuel consumption and updates a chart that shows the tendency of fuel consumption.
Before the diesel purge, the tendency was very very continous, but after the diesel purge it suddenly dropped. I was getting about 21.8 MPG +- 0.5 MPG, but now I got 18.5 MPG in the two tanks I've filled after the diesel purge. I really don't understand what happened. The engine runs smoother and its more peepy, but it is burning more fuel. However its not smoking as it was before the purge. |
