My new Paintjob. Have a look!

Just got my car repainted on the cheap. It looked good when I got it, but some Autoglym wax (which I ordered from England for thirty bucks, should be "bloody good) and it looked even better. What do you guys think?

Bleh

I got it painted and bodywork done a year ago for 600 bucks. It looked like junk, so the guy repainted it for free. It still isn't spectacular upon close inspection, but shines nicely and looks good from 10 ft away. So total cost for second paint job was zero dollars. I'd reckon Maaco could do better.

They call that a ten foot paint job. That is a very forgiving color as far as showing dirt and defects but it is also a hard color to get really shiny. I think that is the ultimate color when it comes to not fading.

Well I'd say it looks pretty good for a car of that age...and I'm not so sure about Maaco. A friend of a friend took their car there and they actually painted over the headlights!

I'm sure you see flaws in your car that no one else does, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Good job. It really gives the vehicle some life and it looks far more impressive with the new paint.

My grey '84 was repainted about ten years ago at a local Maaco. It looks really shiny right after its been washed but after a few days you can tell the clear coat is starting to get chalky. The painting around the "300D" and "Turbodiesel" on the trunk are getting pretty flaky. The p/o only paid about $450 for it though. That's probably where I'll take the '85 when I get it put back together.

I would love to have that paint job on my 1980, and at that price !

Been reluctant to paint over the factory paint.

Very nice.

Looks great.

Another good wax, if you can find it, is called Slipstream Airplane wax.

Cheers,

Bill

What happened to the two tone. I thought you had a brown roof or hood(AutoGlym)?

I can't pay for the materials to paint that car for $600. I'd say you did pretty good, no matter what it looks like up close.
