alda on a 300sd

well my 84 300sd 294l miles was kind of a dog off the line. today i looking around under the hood and found the line from the alda control valve, i geuss, to the intake was loose and i mean just free hanging on the top of the trans. so, the banjo bolt was missing and the parts house didn't have one. so i made one, good thing i have a drill press. put it together and 90% of my complaints about drivablity are now gone. trans is nice and smooth now insted of slaming the 1-2 and 2-3 just by hooking up that line.
i've only had this car for about 5000 miles and the guy i bought it from (for $850 i might add) seemed like he had a bad habit of taking things apart and not putting it back together so who knows how long it was like that.
But the whole point of this is to ask. i read on here about removing the alda
and it making a major increase in power. i hooked it up and got power back. whats happening here? not complaining about a good thing happening atleast for me.

removing the ALDA just gets rid of the altitude limiting properties it does.. you can adjust it to your liking ... when its removed you get full fuel at take off instead of it being limited by altitude pressure or something like that

You won't get any increase in power. Just the power you already have, sooner.

I agree, the ALDA just limits the power at low (or no) boost to minimize the smoke. I would recommend adjusting the ALDA (counter-clock-wise) an keep an eye on the smoke. If you get the adjustment all the way out and the smoke is still acceptable, then consider removing it for some additional power at low rpm.

you have stacks on it right?.. dont worry i thought you would have had a pic of a take off with soot bellowing out of the stacks... if you want to bellow smoke like that in an om617 car then you need an exhaust like forcedinductions
