1999 E300

Well, business is not very good these days and since the downturn is affecting my income I am considering selling our E300. I am mentioning the possible sale of this car here, first, since this where the ‘diesel heads’ live. As most of you are aware my E300 has not been exactly a blessing, however, with that being said all of the items on this car that seem to be ‘gremlins’ have been replaced. Currently, the mileage is around 74,000

Here is the service history of the car since I have owned it:

I am sorry that things have reached such a pass that you are considering parting with it,however I HAVE read practically all your posts regarding the car so I can well understand your trepidation.

Even after I got mine running well by replacing, shall we say, cheap and prematurely aged fuel supply components I still tense up initially when I drive the car every day, perhaps subconsciously awaiting for some mischief to occur but my rational mind knows differently.

I have NEVER had any mechanic repair any of my vehicles, even to the extent of machining and and semi-sizing my own cylinders, cranks and bearings{for my antiques}since paradoxically, what you know WELL doesn't frighten you and what you DON'T know at all holds no terrors either, the more I learn about this car's somewhat dubious electronics, the more confident I am in being able to rectify these faults, few of which have manifested themselves thus far,and when trouble rears it's ugly head It's ordinarily something very simple.

Best of luck anyway, have it detailed out, cleaned and waxed and you'll find many who will want this car.

How the hell did you burn though a set of front brake pads in 17K miles? That's about twice the average frequency. You must really have heavy feet on both pedals to burn them up that fast.

Also, it would probably help prospective buyers if you told more details about the car (options, colors, condition) and probably post pictures and location...

You ASS-U-ME a lot. The front brakes were not burnt up. These were ceramic pads that I purchased at AutoZone. About a month a ago the front brakes began to squeak at times when the cars was nearly stopped. The noise did not please my wife so I replaced the rotors and pads so that both were brand new.

Shame on me for assuming that...it just appeared that you replaced ceramic pads with the same ceramic pads, so I figured it was a wear item.

No, I'm not in the market for another one of these, my '98 keeps me busy enough

But I thought the suggestion about posting some other features of the car might have been more appreciated...OK, I will MMOB.
