1984 MB 300D added to collection!!! (with problems of course!!!)

I couldn't pass up on this one guys, especially in Minnesota where everything rusts!!! She's a 1984 California 300D Turbo Diesel sedan with only 132K miles, white with blue interior and NO RUST !!!! Absolutely incredible body, with a few mechanical quirks, one of them being a vacuum issue. Door locks don't work and it shifts funny. It does shut off though because someone plugged up the vacuum line going to the interior. When I plugged it correctly it shifted great, door locks still didn't work and it also wouldn't shut off. I am guessing there is a vacuum problem in one of the doors but is there an "easier" way of troubleshooting this??? She's perfect otherwise!!!

Do a search on vacuum leaks, the easiest way (without taking all the doors apart) is to use a mityvac at the vacuum tees under the front floor matts. You can narrow down the leak location pretty quickly.

Congrats on the purchase!!!

Calif. cars are usually rust free, and I.ve always thought the W123 sedans look best in white or ivory.

For some strange reason, the cars (123 and 126) usually have dash cracking problems only in the color of blue, nobody knows why, so be alert- a good dash pad for $20 at the flea market can cover that up though

Enjoy the car.

The dash is cracked

Thanks for the compliments, I think I'm in love again . The body is absolutely 100% rust free but YES the dash is blue and cracked in a few places. I spent a lot of money getting this car but I think it's well worth it.
