Insurance please???

k, as you all know i have a 76 300d. as i will be 18, i have been told i am going to have to get my own insurance policy. pleassssse does anyone have any idea where i can get the cheapest/best insurace

right now my insurance is a whoping 150/month or or 900 for six months (and this is just liability ) any ideas guys?

currently insurance is with state farm
also to note, allstate and triple A refused to insure me (called both when first got a car, said age, coupled with the age of the car was too much of a risk)

oh yeah, lexington, kentucky

thanks!!!!

edit: oh yeah failed to mention, current price is with discounts, one for good grades, and other for going to drivers school

I have my insurance on the same policy with my parents (Along with the good grades, drivers school, discounts, etc.). I'm only billed $68/month at 21, down from $79/month when I was 17. Farmers ins.

No (reported) accidents or (reported) tickets.

...and it helps that my insurance still thinks I live in Oklahoma. Colorado is like the 7th highest state for insurance price whereas OK is something like 46th.

well, at our age (I'm 16 BTW), pretty much just gotta bend over...

You could try lowering your limits, what was your quote for? I'm paying around 650 every 6 months for 250/500/100... I could go lower, but I can almost afford that, and I assume it's alot cheaper then if I hit somebody with a $$$ car, or a $$$ lawyer

it just sucks because at current rates, in one year insurance almost = triple what i paid for the car

76 300d = 700

insurance for full year = 1800

300 shy of it

It really sucks when you first start driving. When I first started about 4 years agoe (I was 18 too) i paid just a little less than what you quoted. You will notice over the years that the rates will start to gradually go down. Once you turn 20 it will drop then again each year. I'm now down to about $50 a month or $250 for 6 Months.

I started w/ Viking Insurance (800-334-0090) they were really good but I recently switched to esurance (esurance.com) because they were a tad cheaper but I could take care of stuff online and didnt have to call or mail in my pament every month.

A car's a pain but could you really live without it?

i use state farm and they are cheap if you have classic plates.

fast reply because i have to run out the door for work, but i have liability only on my 1980 240D. i pay only $25 for insurance for 6 months, and that is because i have classic plates on it. my 300D is a 1985 and it runs me like $160 with liabiliyt only.

get classic plates and state farm will lower the price considerably. i am 24.

Try Geico or farmers. You can also call an independent insurance agency. They search for the best rate for you and can often get better prices then you can. We insure our truck, Buick, Bmw, Motorhome and 2 MBs for 1200 a year.

any chance you have military in family?

usaa IS very understanding to good drivers that have military in family.
Geico can at least give you a quote and recommend options to lower rate.
BE SURE to let the insurance co know about the 4 wheel STOP ON A DIME brakes on theese cars. and the classic plates make the insurance co respect you because you will be respecting the car. the agent you talked to probably just saw the year of the car and assumed you are driving a beater. be sure you put on NEW tires, and show recipts for vechicular saftey, (front end alingment, over all stability, Brake fluid flush etc.) all these things show you will be using your gray matter for more than impressing girls and street racing... HA in a 300D! who could you beat off the line?
also some insurance companies have a certificate that you sign that states you will not have parties in car, and you will not consume alcahol until you are 21.
Good Luck!
John

to get classic plates you need to go to the local DMV. you fill out a small sheet of paper and in arkansas i only payed $14 for my plates, where as normal plates cost $27. then go to state farm and say you have classic plates. dropped down to $26 every 6 months.

Just turned 21 and my insurance should drop from $200 per month to.... the jury is out. I'd jump for joy if I was only paying $100 per month! Insurance is expensive in my area, got to love the CT coast!

Do classic plates really give you that huge of a discount? I'm still using my temp. Peach State Auto Auction paper plate thats about to expire in a few days. Would this be the right one to get? http://motor.etax.dor.ga.gov/motor/plates/plate.asp?ptitle=HA

if not, any of these?
