Hole in valve cover

I have read where others asked this question, but I can't remember anyone answering it. On my 91 300D 2.5 Turbo there is a very small hole in the right rear of the valve cover. What is this hole for? Will it hurt anything if I plug it up? There is just enought oil coming out of the hole to make it dirty. Otherwise there are NO oil leaks anywhere. Any ideas?
Thanks

If the hole doesn't look as if it was made at the factory then it can't be there for any good reason. The question is how did it get there? If something rubbed the hole of if the cover was cracked I would check out the reason why. When all that is over clean the area with some carb cleaner or the like, cover the hole with some epoxy and go about your business.

This was discussed previously. There is a relieve hole in the 60x valve cover. If oil is coming out of the hole, something in crankcase venting baffles in the valve cover is plugged... or something like that.
