Light sputtering under heavy throttle - '95 E300D

The car has always ran very well, smooth as glass. Lately though, it's sputters a bit under acceleration. You can barely feel it, and the rpm gauge makes the slightest of moves. Possibilities?

1) Bad tank of diesel?
2) The new low-sulphur diesel?
3) Injector issue?

Anyone know or have a good guess?

Another possibility is dirty fuel filters.

Fuel Filters? I'd suspect those first, because under heavy acceleration it needs the most fuel, on those higher-tech engines a fuel issue could cause sputtering...on the old ones it just makes them go slower.

Edit: Two members with the same suggesstion at the same time alert!

Also a very good suggestion, you'll know if its the o-rings for sure if it becomes hard/impossible to start after sitting a little while.

I'll do fuel tomorrow - I'm probably due and it certainly is cheap insurance.
