How in the world am i supposed to get out the gloplugs in my 80 300d? Im used to gas cars not deisel! I need help! Is there a website that tells you how, and also is there a website that has an online manual for my car?

As far as a manual goes, you might try a Haynes manual. They don't print one for my car, but they do for yours. You have a W123 chassis. They built them from 1976-1985. The Haynes part number for the manual is #697. It covers both 4 and 5 cyl. diesels. Since my car has the same 617 engine that was used in the W123s , I bought this manual. The full title of the book is "Mercedes-Benz Diesel 123 series". It should only cost about $15.
Just curious, why are you replacing the glowplugs. They are not like sparkplugs that need replacing every 30K miles. You only replace them when they go bad, in which case you will be having a real hard time starting the engine. As far as how to remove them, in this instance they are like sparkplugs. First remove the wire lead that attaches to the plug. With that out of the way, put a deep well socket, I forget the size, over the plug and loosen them out. The tricky one will be number 5, back behind the oil filter housing. Hope this helps

im am having a hard time starting i. I cant start "cold" start it without using starting fluid. So i am going to try to save up and get some new plugs. How do i test to see if they are working BTW?

Is your glowplug light on the dash, coming on? If not then you possibly have at least one bad plug. As far as testing goes. Do you know how to use a basic volt meter? Looking at the engine, on the right hand side you will find a black box, this is the glowplug timer relay. Remove the connectore that goes to all the glowplugs, turn the ignition on, and with the neg. lead of the meter attached to ground, check for resistance to each plug. An infinite reading means the plug is bad. First before you start poking around an engine you may not be familar with, I would strongly suggest you buy the Haynes manual. There is a step by step description on how to check the glowplugs.

Yes the dash light does come on. I think i may have fixed the problem. Well i didnt change anything, i just let the glowplugs warm up, then i turn the key and hold it while it attempts to start for about 10-15 and it starts!! Thanks for telling me how to test the glowplugs!

You must be new to diesels. You do have to wait until the glowplug light goes out, then turn the key. After the car has been driven, when you go to start her again, the glowplug light stays on for a shorter time than it did when the engine was cold. It shouldn't take 10-15 seconds to start though, even when it's the first start of the day. Especially in Texas at this time of the year.

Got glo plugs today!!
 
I went to the junkyard today and got some new gloplugs! The car starts ALOT easier now!! so i geuss all i needed was new gloplugs! Thanks for all your help!!!

Also, where can i get a hood ornament for my car?? And roughly how much are they?
