broke a vaccumn fitting

dam. was going to follow the transjmission adjust stuff i found somewhere on the forum, the first thing was tos take off the fitting from the vaccumn pump to the power brake booster. i broke the dam fitting off. and it was the wrong one anyway... without it the car won;'t shut off. so i super=glued it with gap filling super glu, and then i siliconed the joint in case the super glue don;t hold. i probably should get a replacemtnt but im not sure what it is or where to get it. . . . it must be something special because the fitting i broke didn't have the 20 plus inches of vaccumn i was suppose to have from the pump. the fitting next to it had the proper vaccumn... anyway, what so i need to order from whom ? ? ? ?help.

also did the transmission filter and oil change, and installed the lower hose heater kit and added antifreeze to make the car safe to -40 below. gotta get ready for winter ya know. we do have hard winters here in n.w. wisconsin. i figure that the car will probably just keep running for a couple weeks in january . if i shut it off it won;t start and plug in is too far away. at home i can hook it up but why not just let it idle. . . didi that on my 190 in years past and it burned about a pint of fuel overnight. nearly cheaper than plugging it in. . . .
anyway, i need to order that part. we have no dealers with 200 miles from here so im at a loss as to where to go. . . . . .
thanks,
davidh

I assume you are talking about an 83 300D? If so, this is the main vacuum line from the vacuum pump to the brake booster:

http://catalog.eautopartscatalog.com/mercedesshop/sophio/wizard.jsp?partner=mercedesshop&clientid=catalog.mercedesshop&baseurl=http://catalog.peachparts.com/&cookieid=1CQ0J3JZ41WF0H7SW0&year=1983&make=MB&model=300-DT-001&category=All&part=Booster+Vacuum+Hose&appChassis=_any

Pick the correct one for your chassis number. Don't feel too bed, I've gone through about 3 of them.

I just did the same thing last week!

'83 300D - Vacuum Line ?

You can't buy the valve with the two little fittings on it. You have to get the whole hose that runs from up front to back to the brake booster. The part number is 1234307429.

I got it from www.*************** and it was around $50 (shipping included). I ordered it on Friday, it'll be here today! Mine's plugged with shipping tape - takes a long time to shut down when I turn the key off!!!

Just search on the word vacuum and/or hose after you select your car. If you can't find something, try calling Phil. I'm also a little tired of replacing that hose, it's pretty easy to break.

fixed it..

last night i took the hose assembly into my shop and drilled a shallow hole into the little valve where the fitting snapped of. cleaned the brokend end of the fitting with degreaser and a little emery cloth and using a small amount of epoxy, i reattached the little end. held it in place for about 3 minutes (i used 90 second setting epoxy) and it seemed to hold. i will find out today if its semi permenent. but i did order a new hose assembly too. . .

I've gotten away with that for a while too, it's better than having no vacuum while waiting to replace the hose. If it holds, keep the old one as a spare for the next time you break this thing.
