OT: Volvo story / memory

My family bought a 1990 Volvo 740 wagon new, we had it for 140,000 miles and sold it in 1996. Lots of memories of that car, but most of all I remember rolling over 100,000 with my father on an autumn night. Well about 6 months ago we bought a 1990 Volvo 760 wagon with 96,000 miles. Well tonight it rolled over 100,000 in the exact same place it did in our old 740, the only difference was I was driving and my father was riding. Somehow I think I will remember this night as well. Even when the car is gone.

Sorry guys, I know its not diesel material, but thought I would share this with you all.

I was looking for a Volvo wagon when I acquired my first diesel MB wagon. Wish I had known more about MB's before I bought my first one......
I really like Volvo's, and you can find them easier in a 5 speed.....
The diesel Volvo wagon that often calls to me appears to now be gone.

Nice memory for you, and I like posts such as this. Not the brainless kid stuff we have been getting lately.........

That's a heart warming story. I remember driving around for hours one night long ago, trying to get my 1970 VW bug to flip over(the miles, not the car). When it did, I drove to White Castle and consumed more greasers than I should have and went home.

Thanks for the story, we need more of that here.

first person i know who TRIED to roll a vw bug and did.

lots and lots of folks did without trying though.

usually you could push them over on their wheels ad drive home without even any broken glass.

You aren't kidding. I was at Daytona Bike Week back in 1987 driving a 1970 VW bug. It was around 2:00 a.m., and I pulled up to a four way intersection on A1A while realizing there wasn't a soul in sight, except for some grizzly biker drinking beer outside of a bar on the corner. Just as I thought "This is a recipie for disaster" I heard one of them yell "TIP THE BUG" as they swarmed aroung the car. They started rocking the car from side to side, then when the light turned green they picked the rear wheels off the ground. I was half laughing and half frightened they might tip me over. Finally.. they dropped the bug on the ground and I lit a Camel and drove off. They were all standing in the street rolling on the ground laughing as I looked in the rearview mirror.
