How do you remove rear door handles, W123 300D 85 (painting car)
 

How do you remove the rear door handles on a W123 300D 85? I am painting the car and stripping the doors and would like to remove them. THANKS. The rear doors are a nuisance because there is a lot of sheet metal in the way.

I don't know if the rears are the same as the front, but I removed the front on my 77 300d last week. Remove the two screws from the handle on the edge of the door. You may or may not then have to loosen the front screw which slides in a slot. If the front screw is not very tight, you may be able to simply push the handle forwards and pull it off. If the front screw is tight you will need to remove the trim panel inside and using a flashlight, locate the front screw and loosen it with a phillips head screwdriver before sliding the handle forwards
