602 Head in a 617 engine?
Hello everybody!! Does anyone knows if its possible to install a 602 head in a 617 engine? I'm not sure, but I beleive the 602 head is a cross flow design like the 603. Is this right?

The 602 is a 2.5 liter engine, the 617 is 3.0 liter.....so its not even the same size/shape.

In theory it's not that hard or expensive... in theory.
Aluminum is enough easier to work that it's worth the price difference I hear.

Not necessarily always the case, 603 came in 3.0 and 3.5, heads are more or less interchangeable though if I remember correctly prechamber angles and such made that part a little less interchangeable.

It's like putting a 351 head from a Ford on a 350 Chevy.......not going to happen no matter how big your mallet. Castings and bolt patterns are completely different. |

But the 603 is a 3.0L too, would it work on the 617?

You guys should be trying to figure out how to put a 617 head on a 603 instead.

I was gonna get two 240D heads, cut off the first cylinder of one head and the last on the other and weld them together.

You joke, I know guys who've cut and spliced cylinder heads before. Jaguar in that case.

well, I know that was a stupid question, but I rather ask it and seem stupid once than seeming stupid always.... jajajaja, just joking. so what can be done to improve flow in a 617 NA engine head? porting and polishing? is there any difference between a 617 turbo head and a 617 NA head? |
