ML270CDi poor starting, loses power at speed

Engine turns over on start up but takes several seconds to fire. Sometimes does not start. When crusing at speed slightest hill causes revs to start to fluctuate, engine loses power.
All injectors replaced, timing okay, nothing shows up on the garage computer so possibly a mechanical fault. Any ideas?

Sure sounds like a fuel shortage to me.

Did you replace the cannister fuel filter? Also does it run better with the fuel cap removed? Your tank vent may be plugged.

Good luck,

I only have experience with the OM648 engine (6 cyl) but the filter should be in the same spot under the left engine cover right in front, try it first.

The CDI is still fairly new here so may be wrong, but, it looks like it still uses some plastic fuel lines that rely on o-ring seals like the OM606.96x used.

Your problems sound like the beggining phases of air entering the system. Phase two is no start and fuel leaks developing.

Check the lines for minute bubbles and if found replace o-rings or the lines themselves.
