Window problems!

OK, so its not a problem yet.. but it is bugging me.
the drivers window in my car (1984 300SD) is making a loud "pop pop pop pop pop" sound when it reaches the top. I'm not sure exactly how the window works, but i'm thinking its ether warn teeth on the motor, or the moter lost a screw and is no longer tight in the door and has room to move causing the teeth to skip.

I'm sure i'd see the problem as soon as i pull the door apart, problem is, the mercedes is the only car i have at my disposal, because i'm in school agian and i'm living in am apartment So, i know its a long shot, but if anyone has any ideas of what parts i need to get, i'd like to get the parts before i take the door apart. because i don't want to drive the car with the door apart. I'd like to get the parts, and then install them, and not have to worry about moving the car.

thanks

Nik

window

I had the same problem, with my 84 300d, left side rear did the same thing. I found the fix in the forum and did the same thing. I took out the window regulator assembly as a unit, found the 2 teeth at the end of the regulator gear had worn down. Cleaned it up and had a friend touch it with a mig welder and the took it back to my bench and filed the new welds to look like teeth and it came out perfect and it worked well, save your money and do the same thing, when you find out the price of the unit you be glad you did.
