If you live in an area that has a high number of animal crashes, check the comprehensive coverage. Here in Maine it pays for animal crashes and windshields. I think they average 10-12 large animal crashes a day in Maine, mostly deer and moose.

Six months of Liability 300/300 and Comprehensive ($50 deductible/full glass) cost me $211 on the '84, $213 on the '85. I see this as one of the cost benefits of driving a twenty-something year old vehicle.

$150 a month down from $200, sucks being young and in my area. Strangly a 560SEC would only cost a couple hundred more a year to insure.

So there you have it, animals, teenagers and crackheads. Good reasons all to get comprehensive!

I put mine on my policy with Met Life last night. $440.00 per year. It's registered as a "pleasure vehicle" since I'm gonna be spending a lot of time working on it in the near future.

I just paid the yearly insurance bill on my 76' 330d and it cost me a whopping $69. This is the only bill I pay with a smile on my face. It is insured through J C Taylor.

I agree, when you are only purchasing liability coverages, the higher the H.P., the higher the bill.

Brian- I used to work for Travelers ["TIC"] up until 1986, but never knew their policies were sold "Direct Writer " ?

For anyone out there who is ex-military, you should check into USAA... aka [I think] as " United Services Automobile Association "... let me check. Yep, that's correct. They have to be the best around. I have been insured with them since 1969.

I'm not sure how, but I got a quote on my SD for $22/mo for liability/uninsured motorist, from Progressive Direct.

the nearest quote to that was ~$50/mo from USAA, with everyone else trailing behind, up to $115/mo from one!

I like driving an older car!
