300sd climate control issues (no fan shortly after replacing ETR swtich)

Hey gang -- I'm having some AC problems -- currently the fan won't come on at all -- but let me tell you how I got here :-D

So -- bought the car knowing the AC wasn't working -- but he said he had replaced a bunch of parts (new evaporator and some other things -- maybe compressor -- but dad picked up the car and those details are muddled) and it had worked briefly for him before stopping -- he thought maybe bad/old hoses.

So while having it in the shop to get some front end work done -- i asked the guy if he could look and figure out what the AC issue was. He diagnosed (for a fee) that the ETR switch (the one with the probe to be clear) was dead and it was out of coolant -- but had been switched to 134.

Looking around on here and a few other places I see that switch isn't too hard to replace -- order the part and put it in, and charge up the system (2 cans with oil and one without). About this time the weather has greatly cooled down in Atlanta -- and while the air is chilly enough to make me want to turn it off -- i can't really tell what I'm getting -- but consider the operation a temporary success -- since I suspected a leak (other wise where did all that coolant go?)

This weekend it was quite warm, so I thought I'd test out the AC -- no dice -- air is moving but not cold -- so I switch it to EC (or whatever -- last "on" button on the right) since there's no reason to run the compressor and according to the Manuel that's what that one does. Go about my busness. Next time I'm in the car I notice that the fan isn't working. Check fuses -- don't see any blown.

Sugggestions?

Did you take it out of automatic mode by pressing the the high speed button? If that does not work, then check the to see that you are getting voltage to the fan. If you are, then the fan is the problem. If you are not, then the CCU could be suspect.
