I have not found the cause.....Im actually at a loss...beacause reading other posts as to how and why of tightneing whell bearings, I found that I need a dial indicator which I dont have. Actually my fear now is that my bearings have failed prematurley! Im going to have to go back to the shop that did the work on my brakes

you dont really need a dial indicator. in forty years of wrenching my own cars i have never had one and i have tightened many many front wheel bearings.

just jack up the car and spin the wheel. if if doesnt spin freely remove the wheel and pry the brake pads away from the disc. before removing the wheel grab it and wiggle it as hard as you can. if you feel any looseness the bear ing is probably too loose.

to adjust the bearing you have to loosten the locking screw and put a big plyer on the adjusting nut. and loosen it a bit and spin the wheel. now as it is spinning tighten the big nut til it starts to bind the wheel and back off til it is free again. now lock the locking screw.

you are done. i bet the techs at the dealer do it this way too.

Same issue on my car

And I think I have narrowed it down to a motor mount some where. I was going around a corner and kicked it into Neutral and reved the engine, and it went away, this has happened repetedly. So I think mine is mount, or shock issue related to the engine, and wwhen turning right, it vibrates and is felt through the chasis?

Does that sound possible?

vibration thru chassis sounds like a motor mount. eventually it will feel lilke a guy is up there with a 90# jackhammer working on your frame!

good luck

Agreed, you do not need a dial indicater to do bearings. The preload is important to do. And. do not let a shop tell you the wheel bearing need to be "broken in".

Also, while replacing the motor mounts, take a look at the engine shocks as well. I found the rubber bushings under the shocks missing.

Update!

I finally got to looking around and I am positive that the bearings are NOT the issue in my noises nor the motor mounds as they are perfect. I got in the car with a buddy of mine to help me narrow down the noise. He believes that the noise is comming from the transmission hump. He feels that the noise could be attributed to two things. 1) a bad driveshaft bearing supoort or support AND bearing or 2) rear transmission mount. This would make sense as I just had the tranny overhauled and had the fron flex disc replaced. Does this sound like a winner???? Furthermore, my buddy was telling me that the reason why it sounds like its grinding on right turns only is becasue of the direction of the rotation. I could use some inputs on this!

tire is not rubbing is it?
Take a look at the tranny mount, is it collapsed?
You mentioned you had the tranny redone. It is imperative to remount drive shaft in exact posistion left to right, front to back, keeps things balanced properly.
does not sound like a bearing to me, however if the noise does go away when you pop it into neutral then it could be drive shaft related. Flex discs ususally squeel or chirp if bad. Have you checked linkages from tranny upward for loose fittings?
