84 300D What's it worth???
OK experts and all those interested...Here's an 84 300D that appears to have never been wrecked, has 236 thou on the clock. Engine and tranny check out good, no smoke or unusual noises. Car does not have a title with it. Some rust but nothing that can't be fixed, clearcoat peeling in spots, but that's not uncommon..AC does not work, need a charge...Sunroof works, didn't check antennae as there's no radio. Dash has cracks but not as bad as I've seen....Good tires, and brakes...Pics don't show bumper rubber but they are with car...Central locks work, pass side rear window works when it wants too, passenger side front worked a couple of times then quit...Window switches look older than car...Also missing shift lever console...Pretty nice looking car for running around town, to and fro work, etc....Trying to track down previous owner with the title. Need best estimates on what you think this car is worth. Haven't decided if I want it or just sell it for the owner who hasn't a clue about the internet...Car originally came from Maryland...

I'm not sure what it's worth, it depends what you want. The problem is, it's only a good deal if you are willing to drive it as-is. Fixing the body/paint would cost (at least) several $1000, the interior needs significant attention, and who knows what the AC would end up costing. Based on the appearance of the car, I would not be confident that it was well maintained (understatement). At 250K+ miles it could be close to significant engine/transmision work, too. Personally, I wouldn't touch it for any price because I wouldn't be willing to put significant money into it and I wouldn't want to drive it as-is.

Second the motion. Buy it for next to nothing ($500?) and drive it as is, fixing only those things that are safety/driveability issues, until something expensive breaks, then junk it. Who knows, you might get a year or two out of it.
